Heartfulness Green

Heartfulness Green is a eco-spiritual movement that is reviving the connection of people with Nature.

Heartfulness Green creates nature-conscious, regenerative communities, and helps simplify green practices for individual action.

Heartfulness Green is creating the shift in our relationship with Nature, recognizing and nurturing not just human consciousness, but collective consciousness.

The Heartfulness international headquarters in India, Kanha Shanti Vanam, has been transformed from a dry barren landscape to a lush green ecosystem within 5 years. It is home to over 1,400 species of plants, 167 species of birds, with an average ground water table at 45.72 metres, and a monthly rainfall of 155 mm. Heartfulness Institute Australia has been contributing regularly to this international effort at Kanha since 2015, providing donations, subject matter expertise, and willing volunteers for tree planting.

Kanha is an international hub for green research, knowledge, and training, and a source of inspiration for future generations to come.

Forests by Heartfulness

The goal of Forests by Heartfulness is to plant at least 30 million endemic and endangered trees by 2030, by doing the following:

1. Creating forests of peace.
2. Using Dense Forest methodology – a scientific and well-planned method of creating dense forests.
3. Nurturing biodiversity – native, medicinal, endangered, and wild species.
4. Community outreach – collaborating, educating, and raising awareness across many communities, including NGOs, farmers, students, conservationists, and Heartfulness volunteers.

The latest plantation dates, partnership opportunities and news can be viewed at: https://heartfulness.org/forests/

Tree Conservation Centre
1. A tissue culture lab to propagate rare and critically endangered plant species.
2. Translocation of endangered mature trees. With a 95% survival rate, over 1500 trees aged between 15 to 30 years have been given a new lease of life at Kanha Shanti Vanam, India.

Heartyculture nurseries
The Kanha nursery hosts 740 plant species, with a stock of approximately 3 million saplings, and a plan to have 10 million saplings by 2025. Similar nurseries will be developed in Heartfulness centres around the world.

Regeneration

Agriculture
Soil farming, agroforestry, hydroponics, fertigation, microgreens, and temperature-controlled farming are some of the practices.

Soil health and conservation
Practices to improve soil health, include biochar, nutrient rich composting and vermicomposting, prevention of soil erosion, and deep root irrigation for enrichment.

Waste management
Kanha is aiming to be a zero waste and carbon negative campus by 2025. Practices include composting, up-cycling construction waste, and segregation of waste into 26 categories for repurposing and recycling.

Green education
Practical and expert-led green curricula are being developed for The Heartfulness Learning Centre, The Green Hearts club, summer camps, green internships, community awareness drives, a 6-month residential program, and workshops on sustainable construction practices.

Green conferences
Kanha hosts environmental conferences, e.g. the agricultural scientists conference, ISOLA conference for landscape architects, the Water Ministry of the Government of India on water harvesting.

Farmer and village outreach programs
Reviving and evolving traditional wisdom and techniques in farming practices. We conduct outreach programs for education, equipping farmers with the latest agricultural practices to increase their yield, water management, and soil health.

Energy efficiency
Solar power: Kanha is entirely solar powered – street lights, offices, meditation hall, residential buildings, etc., with a capacity 2MW peak.

District Cooling System (DCS): All major buildings in Kanha use this system of air conditioning to reduce CO2 emissions. Chilled water pipelines have been laid in the meditation hall flooring to create ambient temperatures.

Organic products
We have a range of in-house farm to bottle organic products, e.g. essential oils, cold-pressed oils, edibles, health supplements, and medicinal and wellness products.
